Tips to Getting Ready in a Jiffy

If you’re stuck at home like most of us, you might have long since turned in your curling iron for a messy bun and yoga pants for your colorful floral skirts. However, as things slowly start to open up again after months of lockdown, you might be itching to look your best. On the other hand, you might have realized that wearing sweatpants every day and spending less than five minutes to get ready sure frees up a lot of time elsewhere. If you’re interested in how to have a quick beauty routine without looking like you just rolled out of bed, here are some tips on how to get ready in a jiffy.

-Forego the heat instruments for your hair. Instead, consider braiding your hair at night or use the TikTok hair-sock curling trend. For this, you essentially braid your hair, but one of the strands is a sock. Then, when you wake up, you have effortless waves. No heat tools, and no fussing in the morning.

-Use combination makeup and skincare options such as lip-and-cheek tint combinations, or foundations that have hyaluronic acid in them to keep you moisturized through the day. If you’re not sure how to deal with skin redness while still staying protected from the sun, look for cosmetic options that have both SPF and red-reducing options.

-Set your outfit out the night before so you can roll out of bed a little later. This seems obvious but laying out your chosen clothes before you head to bed will reduce any stress in the morning about trying to find that long-lost cardigan. If you shower at night, hang your go-to outfit up on the bathroom door and let the steam work its magic on wrinkles and cut out any ironing time as well.

-Check the weather the night before. This goes hand-in-hand with setting out your outfit. If you’ve set out an outfit that is great for a sunny day, only to wake up to rain pounding on your rooftop, you’ll have to reconsider what you were planning to don, so make it easier by glancing on the weather forecast before you hit the hay.

-Ignore your phone. While you’re getting ready, your phone is a time suck! How many minutes a day do you spent scrolling social media? Well, stop doing it while you’re getting ready. If your goal is to be out the door in five minutes, that text can wait until you are finished tying your shoes. There’s nothing so important on Instagram that it can’t wait a few moments.

-Layout your makeup the night before, in the order you use it. That way, as soon as you pop out of bed, you can dive right into the first product you use, right down the line. (Don’t forget the toothbrush!) If you don’t want these products sitting on your counter, then simply have a cosmetic bag of the things you typically use every morning. That will reduce any time spent shoveling through products you rarely use.

There you have it! A quick list of tips to help you make the most of your morning while still looking fantastic.
