Oh yes, you can thank me later for this tip. The title already gives it away, Nivea After Shave as a primer! This new baby has been around for a while, but little did we know that we could use it as a makeup primer. The news have been out for a while but I only found out about it a few weeks ago, and since then I have used it every single day and the results are REAL! Forget the overpriced primers, the secret to a flawless skin is probably hiding inside your husband’s or boyfriend’s bathroom cabinet.

The cool thing about using a after shave lotion as a primer is that it doesn’t matter the brand, as long as it’s an aftershave and it has a fair amount of Glycerin to it. Why? Well darlings, Glycerin is what makes the makeup stick to our faces for long hours and keeps it looking fab as far as it can go (glycerine attracts water to the skin as well as oxygen so the skin looks immediately hydrated and glowing). The one I have is the Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling Post Shave Balm which is a new formula with 0% alcohol* which helps to prevent any burning feeling. I found the formula non sticky and fast absorbing (I normally leave it to dry for 1-2 minutes before applying the foundation).

Nivea After Shave as a primer:

One thing you’ll instantly notice is the “manly” smell, I personally don’t mind it because I enjoy masculine perfumes and even if I did mind, it evaporates in a few minutes. The main reason why I gave this product a go, was because I’d been having oily skin for the longest time. I changed foundation, powder but never though of introducing a primer to my life ha-ha. I had used a few different primers, but never saw a major difference so I would just stop using it. After trying this after-shave, my conception about the effectiveness of a primer has completely changed: IT REALLY WORKS!
I could go on and on about it, but I guess you only know once you try it right? I am not telling you to buy this exact same one, actually don’t buy a new one at all! Give your partner’s after-shave a try, and one you do I am sure you’ll get a bottle of your own.
