If you are new to Android devices after seeing a rise in the cost of Apple in recent years, it will be a whole new world of experience for you. An Android phone is much different to it’s Apple counterpart, and as a result, there are likely a lot of things you will need to learn.

When it comes to switching from Apple to Android, there are a lot of features you will want to utilise, and you will also need to learn how to connect Android to Mac to share your data from one device to the other. Today we are going to go through some of the top tips you need if you have an Android device this year.

  1. Secure your lock screen

One of the most important things you will need to do when you make the switch to Android is to secure your lock screen and ensure that no one else can access your data apart from you. Android offers a few different ways to secure your screen including a pin, pattern or password, and you can choose whichever one suits you when you set up your phone.

  1. Disable/uninstall bloatware

Bloatware is a term used to describe all of the pre-installed applications which come with your phone when you buy it. Often when you buy a 64GB device, after the bloatware is installed you will only actually have around 57GB to use as your own and this can be very frustrating. It is important for you to be able to choose whether or not you keep these applications on your device because you have paid for the storage. There are always some apps which can be uninstalled via the Play Store, and this can free up your phone for use elsewhere.

  1. Mobile data tracking

One of the things which many of us want out of a phone package these days is unlimited data. Data is the most important thing for you to manage on your phone and it will allow you to use applications while out and about without worry. As data packages are rising in cost, it is important for you to be able to track your usage so that you don’t go over budget. To track data on your Android device, you can visit the data menu in your setting and you will see where you are up to.

  1. Disable mobile data

Not all of us need to be connected to the internet at all times, and if you are on a plane or you simply want to save yourself some data, you can switch off mobile data so that it saves you some money. To turn off your mobile data, you can head to Settings > Data Usage > Mobile Data and switch it off until you need it again.

  1. Disable notifications

When you have a lot of applications installed on your phone, you might start to get annoyed with the sheer number of notifications you are receiving on your phone. If you want to change your settings, this is similar to what you would do if you were using an iPhone by pressing and holding a notification, and then pressing the following Tap App Info > Untick Show Notifications > OK.
