I did it, can you believe it? I have finally given Microblading a try and I am absolutely in love with the final result.
It might come as a surprise that I even considered getting it done as most people think I have a really nice eyebrow shape. However, that nice shape comes from spending a good few minutes filling them out with eyebrow products (pencils, gels, etc.).
Shaping my eyebrows were really becoming a time-consuming chore when getting ready and I just really wanted to cut that time out and also be able to have them “perfect” all the time. Is that too much to ask? It could have been a few years ago but, thank God Microblading exists now!
So, what did I get myself into?
I got individual light tattoo strokes applied where I had blank spaces, using pure hypoallergenic minerals, to add hair strokes in amongst the existing hairs.
Why did I do it?
To be quite honest, I didn’t consider doing it until I went to the Tracie Giles Blogger Brunch a few months ago. At the event, I got to meet her and also learn a lot about what she does and how well she does it. I mean, Tracie Giles takes care of many WAG’s and Made In Chelsea stars – which meant that I would be in the best hands ever.
I have a feeling that most people spend days researching about it but to be quite honest I had so much trust in the salon’s reputation that I basically went to my appointment knowing very little about how it all went. I got a general idea when reading the terms and conditions form that is given to you once you get to Tracie Giles Bespoke Permanent Make Up salon.
Once I completed the form, Natasha came to pick me up and I instantly felt I like was in good hands. She was super pretty and had gorgeous brows, not to mention that she was super friendly but in a very discreet way.
The Tracie Giles Signature 3D Hair by Hair Brow
She spent at least thirty minutes of the appointment outlining my new shape of brows. During this time, I got the distinct feeling that she was a perfectionist which made me very happy.
She then removed the makeup around my brows and started sketching my new perfect brows. I didn’t have to say much, it felt like she knew exactly what I wanted and that made me feel even more at ease.
We agreed to go for a natural finish and a shade lighter than my own hair. It won’t seem like it because it looks darker than it actually is in the first few days but it will fade with time. The process really is similar to doing a tattoo, where the eyebrow is drawn thread by thread to achieve a realistic result, imitating the natural hairs.
Did it hurt?
Regarding the pain (I know you’re dying to know), I was actually very nervous about it because if there’s one thing I hate is PAIN! The first round of the tattooing is done with anesthetic but because it’s the first layer of it, it does hurt a little. The pain isn’t unbearable by any means, it feels like a light scratching sensation.
However, I am sure that it varies from person to person. My mum for example nearly dies when plucking her eyebrows; whereas, I don’t really mind it.
Once the first round was done, Natasha then covered my brows in anesthetic once again until the pigment was fully embedded in the skin. I had around 3 rounds and by the last one, I couldn’t feel anything at all (only the pressure of her hands).
The whole procedure lasted less than 1:30hrs and I was extremely excited to see the end result. Needless to say, I was not disappointed when I was finally able to see them. My new brows looked PERFECT, with a symmetrical and definite shape that would take me quite a long time to achieve to make up.
I only had them done yesterday but it is recommended to come back for a follow-up appointment within 12 weeks. Prices vary between £495-795 and there’s also an annual maintenance cost (£175 to £225), it’s not particularly cheap but is cheaper than having it done from scratch. Most importantly, it’s worth it!
Wheater you want to get your eyebrows done to give you confidence or like me you’re just too lazy to draw them on every day, you should definitely consider Microblading.
