MY STAY AT HOTEL VILLA OTERO | NICE, FRANCE ?#HappyCulture
Most of you know that I turned 24 years old last Sunday. If you didn’t know, now you do ha-ha. To celebrate my birthday we went on a weekend trip to Nice, France. I have always wanted to visit the French Riviera and when we checked out the weather there, we were sold! Not to mention the history, art and an abundance of good food and wine. It was the perfect destination to celebrate any occassion.
Where to stay in Nice, France:
We stayed at a very charming four-star hotel, Villa Otero, part of the HappyCulture group. The first impression when you step into the lobby is “OMG, this place is so cute!”. The hotel has a symbolic architecture from the Belle Epoque: the Quartier des Musiciens. It’s located near the main tourist areas (it took us around 10-15 minutes to get there on foot).
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Nice, France. The staff was very welcoming and the hotel itself was never loud which is something I really take into consideration when booking a place to rewind from all the craziness in London.

Thank you, Villa Otero for a wonderfully relaxing stay. Hope to visit again.
Nice and Monaco – Day 1:
In the historical center, walk east (with the sea on your right) you will find lots of nice bars and restaurants to take a break from the sun. There you will also find a market with lots and lots of flowers, fruits, and french goodies. I wish we have had time to pick up some great produce from the market and have a picnic.
How to get from Ville Nice to Monaco Monte Carlo by train:
There is a train line between Nice and Monaco which is very convenient and used by most tourists visiting Monaco. The cool thing about this option is that a Nice-Monaco train ticket gives you the right to stop at any station between the two cities. The train stations that are in the middle of the way are Villefranche, Beaulieu, Èze-sur-mere, Cap d’ail. The frequency of trains is more or less every 30 minutes and one-way ticket costs around 4 euros.
Visiting Cannes – Day 2:
On our last day, we decided to visit Cannes. We woke up fairly early, had breakfast and got a train. The average journey time between Nice Ville and Cannes is 34 minutes and the fastest journey time is 23 minutes. One-way ticket costs around 7 euros.
The cool thing about Cannes is that the beach is sandy (whoop-whoop). We got to the main tourist sights on foot, from the train station to the most tourist area of the city are only 700m away. The path is full of shops which may distract you a little bit. I, for instance, had to have a quick stop at Sephora as I love makeup.
Boulevard de la Croisette is an elegant and super flowery long street, where you will find luxury shops (Gucci was my favorite), hotels and also a tourist train. Honestly, the city is so small that I don’t think it is unnecessary. Cannes is very charming, the buildings along the sea are magnificent, and the walk along the beach is breathtaking. If I could choose where to come and visit again between Nice, Monaco and Cannes I would probably choose Cannes.
