TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN LONDON THIS CHRISTMAS

Post by Taislany Gomes • December 12, 2016 • Lifestyle, Reviews, Travel

If you are anything like me you will know that there are 12 days 7 hours 28 minutes and a few seconds until Christmas. Yes, I do have a Christmas countdown, cheezy? Could be, but I love Christmas way too much to even care. I have been living in London for nearly 11 years so I think that I should suggest my Top 5 Things to do in London this December.

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN LONDON THIS CHRISTMAS

1. Department stores:

London has the most festive spots, you’ll find beautiful Christmas lights and window displays, making it the perfect setting when picking up gifts on your list. Covent Garden piazza is a great place to start, you’ll be surrounded by immaculately decorated streets and the perfect breakfast options, which mean that you can grab your morning coffee and then head to the shops and find the perfect gift for your loved ones.

Looking for an exclusive Christmas shopping experience? Head to Harrods and find the most beautiful Christmas tree decorations. They have 300-plus departments so you’re covered for gift ideas. If you have the time, check Harrod’s food market it’s my one stop shop for Christmas hampers. They also have a cocktail bar which is divine.

2. Christmas Market:

There’s nothing more Christmassy than going to a Christmas Market yall. I feel like every time I go to one I get even more excited about the holiday. My favorite ones are:

Winter Wonderland

-Winter Wonderland’s market in Hyde Park (I always stop at the mulled wine pop-ups)

-Southbank Centre’s Winter Market

-London Bridge City’s riverside market

3. Ice Skating

This is a funny one because I am the worst at ice skating… I can probably say that I am a disaster at it! But, I am not that selfish. I know that ice skating is one of the best things about winter and everyone loves doing it during the holidays and London has some pretty damn good ice rinks.

Skate at Somerset House

A few weeks ago a PR agency took a small group of bloggers to Skate at Somerset House and I already knew that I would be only observing those who are more skilled at skating than me, but you know what? The setting was so perfect that I was mesmerized by it and didn’t really mind only watching. I went with a blogger friend of mine, and she was so sweet to take me around the rink a few times and not make fun of me… well, maybe a little.

I would definitely recommend the Somerset House Ice Rink as I have been there and experienced it myself. If there’s one thing I know is that you’ll be under hypnosis, the lights and decorations are just stunning.

4.Festive Restaurants

Are you a foodie? Well, I’ve got you covered! Being a food lover myself I always go on a hunt for the most festive menus around London. These are my top picks:

Forest on the roof | Selfridges

-Selfridges Forest On The Roof (make sure to book a table)

-John Lewis’s Oxford Street Roof Garden

-Mac & Wild, Fitzrovia (full review)

-Sea Containers at Mondrian London

5.Christmas Lights

We all love the lights around Regents Street but let’s be honest the crowd makes it not such an especial experience. This year go the extra mile and visit Kew Gardens Christmas Lights. The gardens get a seasonal makeover for Christmas and you’ll be able to spot scented gardens, nature-inspired lights, Santa’s Snowflake Grotto, a vintage carousel, Christmas gifts and traditional festive nibbles and drinks including my favorite: mulled wine.
