I eat out at least 3-4 times a week. A little much you’d say uh? I agree! But as I do, why not share my experience with you guys right? I’ve decided to name these foodie posts: #TaislanyReviews! I’m starting out with an unbelievable experience, I can’t wait to share this one with you guys! So, who’s hungry?

SuperStar BBQ invited me to come and experience their Korean menu and I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous about what to expect as this was my first time trying Korean cuisine. But … WOW, little did I know how delicious and most importantly fresh it actually is. All I knew was that I was about to have a unique dining experience.

As we’re starting this journey together, there’s one thing you should know about me: I love having a cocktail before the meal. We ordered the Fallen Angel In Busal £7.50 and Straight on Passion Tree £6.50, they looked impeccable and were perfectly balanced.

SuperStar BBQAs I enjoyed my cocktail I also took the time to observe the surroundings. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly and the vibe was quite casual, which made me feel comfortable and relaxed. SuperStar BBQWhen I asked Kaylan (the waitress) what we should go for, she recommended that we choose one of the set’s – which was a great choice as we would get a little taste of everything.

We were quite hungry so Set 3 looked just right! What’s included:

Starters:
– Yuk Hwae (beef tartare)
– Traditional Mandoo (dumplings)
– PA Jeon (seafood pancake)
– Miso Soup
– Banchan – Namool & Kimchi

BBQ:
– Tiger Prawns, Sesame and Garlic Sirloin, Rib Galbi, Wine Pork Belly and Grilled Vegetables
– Sangchu Salad (Lettuce and Miso Paste)
– Hot Stone Bibimbap

Dessert:
– Seasonal Fruits and Korean Cinnamon Drink

SuperStar BBQEach table come equipped with a small barbecue (so cool). Which means that you can prepare your own food the way you want – you’re basically in charge! There’s plenty of dishes on the menu. However, the Korean barbecue is the restaurant’s specialty so, of course, that’s what we chose.IMG_2659We also gave the traditional Korean beef tartare with pear & egg yoke a try. It was surprisingly tasty but because I’m not into raw food I decided to put it on the grill. Some may say: “how very uncouth”. But, it was very tasty and that’s what matters.

The restaurant is a great fun place if you want to try something a little different. The dumplings and the seafood pancake were my favourite – was flavoursome and very enjoyable.

SuperStar BBQI found the “How to eat Korean BBQ” very helpful, it explains exactly what to do so you won’t look like an amateur (which I was)! SuperStar BBQSuperStar BBQ would be a great place to catch up with friends, good for a first date because you can interact with your date – there will always have something to do which can fill awkward silences. I would say the best thing to do if you never been before is to get the set like we did then you’ll get a full experience but make sure not to have eaten a lot before because it’s a big meal!SuperStar BBQIf you’re vegetarian, I’d recommend the mixed vegetables; the mushrooms tasted lovely on the grill.
SuperStar BBQWe started with the prawns and vegetables and then progress to the perfectly seasoned and marinated meat.

The Korean Cinnamon Drink was a refreshing way to end the evening. Overall, it was an awesome experience. I love that it’s such an interactive dinner and you never run out of things to talk about or do. It was definitely one of the most entertaining meals we’ve ever had.

Taislany Likes:

1) All of the food was delicious, particularly the BBQ.

Taislany Dislikes:
1) The Classic Kimchi – which is a side dish to accompany your grilled dishes (too spicy for me).
