Whether 2016 went exactly how you wanted it to, or if like me it didn’t, every single experience throughout last year was worth something, even that breakup with your ex or a fallout with a friend. It might not make sense now but trust me, those experiences only make you stronger for situations that might arise in the future (that’s a fact).
I’m sure that just like me you want to make 2017 Your Best Year Ever, here are six steps to make sure to power through into 2017 with good vibes only!
6 Steps To Make 2017 Your Best Year Ever! 🏆💎🔝
Step 1: Reflect on 2016’s ups and downs!
I find that going through something is the best way to learn, positive or negative you’ll always get experience out of it and that prevents you from making the same mistakes. Some of us might need to go through it a few times until we learn but it doesn’t matter as long as it makes you stronger and better. Take the time to reflect on what worked for you and what didn’t during 2016 and make sure not to make the same bad decisions.
In my case, mood swings have been something that affected my year enormously and it’s something that I will work on and make sure not to let it affect 2017 as much as it did during 2016. Taking the time to reflect on the things that made you happy or sad will help you identify the things you need to work in the new year.
Step 2: Set three goals at the beginning of each day.
So cliché, right? I am such a believer in making lists and ticking things off. Since planning my days better I have seen such a difference on how productive I get. You can have one, three or ten goals, the reason why I said three is because we don’t want to make an unrealistic list, why? Imagine getting to December 2017 and looking at your ten goals and realizing that you haven’t achieved half of it… It will make you feel depressed and negative about your year and we don’t want that! We want to have goals that you can feel proud for achieving.
If you achieve these three goals by mid-year then add new ones, this way you’ll feel like you’re unstoppable by 2018 (I may or may not be listening to Sia – Unstoppable ha-ha).
Step 3: Clarify those goals!
Perfect! You have set your goals, how about putting them in writing? Clarifying your goals is essential in order to achieve them otherwise, it will just be another idea that came and went. In my case, these are my three goals for 2017:
Step 4: Associate something you love with something you want to accomplish.
Setting goals is easy! Getting around to accomplishing them not so much. My tip to making this process easier on you is to associate your goals with things you enjoy doing anyway. For example, I am absolutely obsessed with beauty/makeup
For example, I am absolutely obsessed with beauty/makeup and like I said I really want to be more consistent on Youtube in order to build and audience. A simple way to make this an enjoyable experience is to record myself when doing my makeup to go to an event or a shoot. By doing this I don’t feel like it’s a chore because I would have to do my makeup to go out anyway, all I have to do is talk it through which is not a hard task at all as I love chatting.
Whereas, if I had to spend 40-60 minutes doing my makeup without a purpose I would feel like it’s “long” and would procrastinate and never get around to filming anything. Associating something you love or have an interest in will make your goal not only reachable but also enjoyable.
Step 5: Start the new year with an empty inbox — and keeping it that way.
This one is a hard one. Keeping inboxes tidy are such a mission but it has to be done, especially when you start a new year. I find that reorganizing my mail folders help me get through my emails more effectively. Having dedicated folders e.g. dealt with, online purchases or important, help you to keep your life under control without freaking out about not finding a specific email that you need asap.
I have spent one hour cleaning up my email and made sure to put all 2016’s emails in my 2016 archive folder. If you take the time to do a clean up you’ll start the new year with a clean inbox, and a clean mind. Oh, make sure not to only do it in the beginning of the year, we shall keep a clean and tidy mailbox throughout the year.
Step 6: Quit Complaining.
Shall we create a “restart” button that could put you at your best physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually? If you said yes you’re in for a treat because it’s easier than you might think! All you have to do is simply quit complaining. It’s definitely easier said than done but it’s one hundred percent achievable. All you have to do is train yourself to be less judgmental, once you practice it you will most likely complain less about things and situations around you.
I also like making a list of things I’m grateful for. Just take 2-3 minutes during your lunch break and think of all the great things and amazing people in your life. It will put all those silly complaints you had to rest and put you in a much better place.
